CURE Clubfoot Program Director (Ethiopian Citizens Only)

CURE has an exceptional opportunity for a CURE Clubfoot Program Director for Ethiopia.  The CURE Clubfoot Program Director provides program management of the national clubfoot program in an assigned country, in an effort to eliminate clubfoot as an adult disability and to fulfill the mission of CURE International.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage the activities of the national clubfoot program within the approved annual budget and strategic operational plan.
  • Undertake regular planning and program review with the Clubfoot Regional Director, CURE Hospital Executive Director and program staff.
  • Provide regular reports to the Clubfoot Regional Director, CURE Hospital Executive Director, and identified partners within the agreed upon and established time frames and report formats.
  • Organize regular training workshops for health workers and counselors.
  • Maintain accurate patient data (patient numbers, treatment, contact information, etc.)
  • Actively monitor patient records and clinic information as forwarded by clinic coordinators, and address and issues or concerns.
  • Comply with all in-country laws, government and organizational (CURE Hospital and CURE Clubfoot) policies and procedures.
  • Actively develop and maintain partnerships with relevant management, local organizations and entities to ensure local ownership of, and commitment to, the Clubfoot Program, in consultation with the Clubfoot Regional Director and the CURE Hospital Executive Director.
  • Actively work with the counseling coordinators/lead counselors to ensure collaboration and alignment of activities in partnership with the CURE Hospital Spiritual Director.  This may include, but not be limited to, regular meetings.
  • Ensure that the Medical Director (CURE Hospital and/or CURE Clubfoot) is consistently engaged with key partners and program initiatives.
  • Liaise (at least monthly) with each clinic coordinator to assess clinic progress, and assist in solving any challenges, seeking appropriate support from the CURE Hospital Executive Director and/or Clubfoot Regional Director, as needed.
  • Ensure that the program always has a quality, reliable and cost-effective supplier of braces, soft roll and plaster (preferably with local providers within the country) utilizing hospital processes and procedures.
  • Ensure that all country clinic sites have an appropriate supply of braces, soft roll and plaster to meet their needs and clinic and country arrangements.
  • Monitor supply inventory and maintain a system to ensure the appropriate use of supplies by clinics according to patient numbers.
  • Develop an annual budget for the program with the Clubfoot Regional Director in consultation with CURE Hospital leadership.
  • In conjunction with the CURE Hospital Finance Manager, maintain and ensure sound financial management of the CURE Clubfoot program.
  • Develop quarterly budget and spending requests with Clubfoot Regional Director and Clubfoot Regional Finance and Compliance Officer, and in consultation with the CURE Hospital Executive Director, that are in line with annual approved budget and program needs.
  • In conjunction with the CURE Hospital Finance Manager and the Clubfoot Regional Finance and Compliance Officer, manage and track all program revenue and expenses to ensure that expenses do not exceed approved budget.
  • Manage reimbursement of fees to clinic sites and counselors for work completed (upon receipt of reports) following CURE Hospital finance policy and procedures.
  • Submit quarterly expense reports and budget requests to Clubfoot Regional Finance and Compliance Officer and Clubfoot Regional Director in a timely manner, working with accounts and other CURE Hospital program staff as required for completion.
  • Actively work with the Clubfoot Regional Director in consultation with the CURE Hospital Executive Director to apply for funding grants to support the program and supplement funding from CURE Clubfoot.

Qualified candidates for this position will possess the following:

  • Degree in Project/Program Management, International Development or Public Health or related field (including health professions).
  • Fluency in English, as well as one of the predominant languages in the region.
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in project or program management and/or experience in the health sector.
  • Previous supervisory and management experience.
  • Previous experience in the medical field and/or with an NGO providing healthcare services preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to and willingness to work in accordance with the mission and Statement of Faith of CURE International.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate people and work effectively in teams and partnerships with a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Good interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills (both written and verbal).  
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and mentor staff.
  • Demonstrated initiative and able to work independently and solve problems.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer based skills, including MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and email.
